SCHOOL CHOICE ISSUES
Jeffco School Board
Susan earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder, and her law degree from the Santa Clara University School of Law. Upon graduation, Susan began her 22-year career practicing law and owning her own business.
Susan moved to Jefferson County in 1997 to start her family with her husband, Larry. They chose Jefferson County, like so many parents, because of its thriving community and renowned public schools. They have two children who have attended their neighborhood elementary school. The youngest is completing 6thgrade and the oldest is now attending their neighborhood middle school.
She began getting involved with Jefferson County’s public education system when her kids first began school – joining the PTA and serving as an elected board member for six years. She also serves as chair on the elementary school accountability committee and volunteers at her local elementary and middle school.
Her favorite place to be is in the school because there is nothing like spending time in the presence of committed teachers, administrators, and of course, the children. She has spent the last 9 years volunteering in her community and schools, and looks forward to stepping up to serve again.
“I have worked with teachers, parents, administrators, and kids all across the spectrum while volunteering on boards and in the classroom. I am running so I can share my passion, knowledge, and firsthand experience with all stakeholders and work collaboratively to make sure all kids have the opportunities my kids have had.”
